Asbestos identification and removal
Most Fire rated doors from 1960-1983 were manufactured using friable Asbestos (Chrysotile and Amosite). If your building was built during this time frame the possibilities are high that the doors installed at construction contain Asbestos.
Most were constructed without timber edge strips at the head or base potentially allowing fibres to become airborne every time the door is used.
In accordance with (NOHSC 2018 (2005)) Asbestos doors must be clearly labelled and fully encapsulated.
If you suspect you have an asbestos containing door which is unlabelled, has any of the core exposed, has damaged hardware or the door is not functioning correctly please do not hesitate to contact us.
Our technicians are certified to remove and dispose of Asbestos doors in accordance with:
- Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984
- Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996
- Code of Practice for the Safe Removal of Asbestos – 2nd Edition
- Codes of Practice for the Management and Control of Asbestos in Workplaces.
